KARACHI: A shopkeeper opened fire on an Assistant Commissioner (AC) in Karachi when he was going to his shop like a common citizen to check milk prices, Local News reported on Wednesday.
This incident took place in Sikandar Goth area of Karachi. The AC received several complaints of profiteering against the owner of the milk shop. AC visited the milk shop alone like a common citizen.
On discovering the sale of milk at exorbitant prices, the AC asked the shopkeeper to provide the official price list, but his move angered the shopkeeper.
Later, the AC called the police and arrested the shopkeeper for profiteering. The shopkeeper immediately closed the shop to avoid arrest.
The police asked the shopkeeper to surrender but he opened fire on the AC. The assistant commissioner narrowly escaped being shot after lying on the floor. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the firing.
The police tried to arrest the shopkeeper, but the local residents fought with the officials and let the accused go.
